Those 48 hours did not end even in 11 years

Saturday is 11 years since the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Rooney. One by one, the investigation agency and the investigation officer have changed in the case of this murder. However, the mystery is not solved. The investigation is still at the stage of identifying the accused, examining the seized evidence and recovering the lost laptop of the victims.

But those 48 hours turned into 96 thousand 360 hours. The killers of journalist couple Sagar-Runi have not been identified. Even after 11 years, the investigation agency RAB could not submit the investigation report to the court. Bereaved families and colleagues question, how much longer they have to wait to get justice.

4 days after the murder, on February 15, 2012, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police took over the investigation. However, after 62 days, they also failed to solve the mystery of the murder, on the orders of the High Court, the investigation of the case was transferred to the Elite Force RAB on April 18 of that year. After taking responsibility, the body of Sagar-Runi was taken from the grave. RAB sent to the United States for DNA testing of 9 types of symptoms. Several suspects were arrested. Even then, the company could not do anything. Due to this, till now they have applied for time 95 times for submitting the investigation report.

Nowsher Alam Roman, the plaintiff in the case and Rooney's brother, said, "There is no progress even in 11 years, when will it happen again?" No progress will be made. We have given up hope. I can only say that the investigation officer is not working on this matter. He also stopped contacting us. But every year they have been saying regularly, visible progress has been made. But in reality nothing. In response to another question, he said, "where the court is giving time again and again, what else do we have to say?" However, if you don't try to open the tangle, the tangle will not open, this is normal.

On the night of February 11, 2012, journalist couple Machranga Television news editor Sagar Sarwar and ATN Bangla senior reporter Mehrun Rooney were brutally murdered in their rented house in West Rajabazar, Dhaka. Their mutilated bodies were recovered early the next morning.
