Alvi Mahmud, coordinator of the program, said that we were peacefully holding a program in front of the National Press Club to demand the chance of admission exam in the university for the second time. At this time, the police lathicharged us. At this time, Alvir Mahmud (20), Shanto (20), Fahim Ahmed (21), Riyad (20), Skyya (20) were injured.
Inspector Sheikh Abul Basar of Shahbag police station said, "We have explained a lot to them. If they want to go to the secretariat, I also want to take a team. Although they all want to go there, it is not possible. Then we ask them to carry out the position program without stopping their means. If they block the way and organize a sit-in program, the public is prepared. Ambulances were also hampered. Later we remove them.
Regarding lathicharge, he said, when they are removed, that time is to give some force. In that case, there has been some push and shove. But it is not a stage of extreme cruelty towards them.
First in the morning in front of the press club, students who have passed the top secondary from various colleges started this program. The placards held by students participating in the location program read 'Education is not a beg, education is my right', 'I want opportunity, chance is my right'.
