Kalshi flyover at Mirpur in the capital will be opened on Sunday. Transportation in that area will be easier. It is a blessing for the people of Mirpur. The 2.34 km flyover will be opened for vehicular traffic after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated it in an auspicious atmosphere. This will be another milestone in the communication system for the citizens of the capital.

Experts say that initiatives to identify area-based problems and solve problems will play an important role in solving the city's traffic congestion problem in the long run.

Uttara and Tongi

  • Project officials said that under the flyover project, a new road of 3.7 kilometers has been constructed from Mirpur in the capital to the airport, Uttara and Tongi in the north direction to Zia Colony via Kalshi. Now almost 60 to 70 thousand vehicles ply on this road every day. Apart from this, various commercial and residential buildings, hospitals, clinics are being built on both sides of the road in that area. This flyover has been constructed over the cantonment area to reduce traffic pressure in Mirpur area. Now that the flyover is operational, road connectivity between Mirpur, Pallabi, Dhaka Cantonment, Uttara, Mohakhali and Rampura will be easy. This project of local government department has been implemented by engineering department of Bangladesh army. And DNCC has supervised the overall activities of the project. DNCC will oversee the project after the inauguration.

The main four-lane flyover is from ECB premises to DOHS at Kalshi and Mirpur. The two-lane ramp will start from Kalshi Mor and go to Kalshi Road.
According to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Public Relations Office, the project includes one PC grider bridge, two full over bridges, one public toilet, two police boxes, one 7.40 km RCC drain, one 1755 m RCC pipe drain, 3383 m communication Also, separate cycle lanes and six bus bays have been constructed.
The project is expected to ease traffic congestion on Mirpur, DOHS, Pallabi, Kalshi, Mohakhali, Banani, Uttara and Airport roads.
