Jagannath University approves three new departments

Jagannath University (JUB) has sanctioned three new departments under the Faculty of Fine Arts. The three categories are drawing and painting, printmaking and sculpture.

With this, the total number of faculties is 7, and the number of departments is 38.

Bangladesh University Grants Commission approves these three departments. On Saturday night Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Imdadul Haque confirmed this.
The Vice-Chancellor said, 'There were these three subjects within the fine arts department. The degree had to be taken separately. We have tried hard to make three distinct categories. Henceforth there will be no fine arts department. Faculty of Fine Arts. And under the faculty of fine arts, three departments viz.- drawing and painting, print making and sculpture will run separately. Will continue like other departments.'

• The mentioned conditions are that the syllabus should be formulated with the approval of the Academic Council of the University with the approval of the Academic Council of the University giving priority to the necessary laboratories for the commencement of teaching and research activities, 60 students can be admitted in the Bachelor (Honours) category every year under three departments in the Faculty of Fine Arts, adequate library facilities for the academic and research of the students. Modern facilities including a number of books, journals, multimedia should be ensured, in the case of teacher recruitment, the guidelines for determining the minimum qualification of public universities approved by UGC should be followed, some part-time teachers may be appointed to facilitate teaching, in that case, the contractual teacher recruitment policy should be followed by UGC and Students should take initiative to increase the necessary opportunities for research, experimental art practice.

Incidentally, teaching is being done from 36 departments and 2 institutes under 6 faculties in Jagannath University. Another new faculty is going to be started in the university.
