Israel launched an artillery attack on Syria, tension in the Middle East
Tensions flared again between Israel and Syria. The Israeli military claimed that the artillery attack was carried out in response to the firing of 6 rockets from Syrian territory towards the northern part of Israel. There was no immediate response from the Syrian government to the renewed tensions. CNN and Al Jazeera reported this news in a report on Monday (April 9).
However, no one has been harmed or injured in these retaliatory attacks so far. The attack took place between the two borders at midnight on Sunday as violence escalated on multiple fronts, including Gaza, Lebanon, occupied East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank. However, there was no immediate comment from the Syrian government. The Israeli military said it had launched artillery and a drone strike against rocket attacks in Syria.
They say that two rounds of rockets were fired from Syrian territory early Sunday morning. The first consisted of three rockets, one of which hit a field in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The second also had three rockets. They hit northern Israel. However, no casualty was reported.
Palestinians have clashed several times with Israeli forces over the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East Jerusalem and entering inside. Israeli police were seen attacking the worshippers. They also throw tear gas. Rockets have been fired from Syrian territory into Israel amid clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians in Jerusalem.
Earlier on Friday, loud explosions were heard across Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. D. After rocket attacks from Lebanon into Israel, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip were hit. Tel Aviv blamed the Palestinian militant group Hamas for the attack on Israel.
Meanwhile, a 20-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israeli security forces in the West Bank on Saturday. The Palestinian Health Ministry said Ahed Selim was shot in the chest and abdomen.
