The biggest protest in history is in Israel
Demonstrations have been ongoing across Israel for 10 weeks against Netanyahu's judicial reform plan. Several lakh people of the country participated in this protest. According to many, it is the largest protest rally in Israel's history.
Aljazeera reported this information in a report on Sunday (March 12). Protests against judicial reform have been ongoing in Israel for 10 consecutive weeks. Millions of Israeli citizens protested in various cities of the country on Saturday.
Many people including the organizers say that more than 5 lakh people participated in the protest. It is the largest gathering in Israel's history. However, Israeli media say between 250 and 300,000 people took part in the rally.
Meanwhile, protests have been going on in the country for the past 10 weeks against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to reduce the powers of the Supreme Court. However, the Netanyahu government claims that the protests are being instigated by the opposition.
Critics say that if the judiciary reform proposal is passed, the judiciary will lose its independence and be run by the government. The most important of these reforms is that a majority of 61 votes will be enough to overturn any decision of the Supreme Court in the 120-member parliament.
Protesters say that if the judiciary is reformed, all power will go to the hands of the prime minister and his aides.
