Iftar booking in Dhaka is a novel scam

A few people appeared for buffet iftar at a restaurant in Mirpur of the capital. The manager said, without booking, he has no opportunity to eat and drink in the restaurant. The people who came for Iftar said that they came with booking. What kind of trouble before iftar!

The manager noticed that the same incident happened several times in his restaurant. Seeing no alternative, he took refuge in the law and order forces.

The manager said that the fraudulent gang used to steal money by booking restaurants online. But the original restaurant does not know anything about this, and does not get money. The result is a confusion. He also said that it starts much more from the beginning of fasting.
Then the police started investigating. The incident happened in Kalia upazila of Narail district. Al-Amin was arrested in a raid. He said that a gang in their upazila has been deceiving by opening a fake Facebook page in the name of a famous restaurant on Facebook. Many youths in some villages like Al-Amin are involved in this fraud. Grabbing advance money for booking.

Police say that most of the youth of the area visit various e-commerce sites to gather information. Later, sitting in remote areas, he got various kinds of fraud traps.

Mohammad Tarek bin Rashid, deputy police commissioner of cyber and special crime department of DMP, said that the issue of e-commerce fraud in the area has become like a cluster. One learned from another and got down to this job. It has become an easy way to earn money.

Police advised to be more careful before shopping online to avoid new scams around the month of Ramadan.
