Irfan Salim surrendered and got bail
Irfan Salim, son of Parliamentarian Haji Salim, surrendered to the court in the case of beating and attempted murder of a Navy officer. On Thursday (February 9), he surrendered in the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor and applied for bail through his lawyer. Later the court granted bail.

Earlier, on Wednesday (February 8), the same court framed charges against the five accused and ordered the trial to begin. As Irfan Salim did not appear in the court, the court canceled the bail and issued an arrest warrant in his name.
The other 4 accused in the case are - Irfan Salim's bodyguard Zahidul Mollah, driver Mizanur Rahman, Madina Group protocol officer AB Siddique Dipu and associate Kazi Ripon.
Among them, Zahidul is currently in jail. Mijanur and Dipu are out on bail and Kazi Ripon is absconding.
On October 25, 2021, Navy Lieutenant Wasif Ahmed Khan was riding a motorcycle. At that time, Haji Selim's son Ward Councilor Irfan Selim's car hit him. Then he stopped the motorcycle on the side of the road and stood in front of the car and introduced himself. Then others who were with Irfan from the car together beat him and threatened to kill him. In the morning of October 26, Wasif Ahmed Khan filed a case at the Dhanmondi police station accusing Irfan Salim, his two bodyguards Zahidul Molla and AB Siddique Dipu and the driver Mizanur Rahman.
