Day-long shelling in Bakhmut, 'pointless' Putin ceasefire
Bakhmut is one of the areas of Ukraine where Russian forces are fighting against Ukrainian troops. Before the start of the war, about 70 thousand people lived in this city. Most of the city's residents fled for their lives after the conflict began. The few who did not leave the city are now in danger of perishing. Volunteers risk their lives and try to help them.

Moscow said its troops in Ukraine would observe a 36-hour ceasefire announced by President Putin on Saturday. Although Ukraine has previously rejected a cease-fire offer, it will not enter into any form of cease-fire with a Russian military presence on its territory.
Regarding the shelling in Bakhmu on Saturday, Moscow said, "Russian forces are only firing in response to Ukrainian forces firing at them." Reuters could not independently confirm who was shelling Bakhmu.
