'Dangerous' air pollution tops again
The name of Dhaka has again come to the top in the list of polluted cities in the world. Recently, the capital Dhaka is on the top of the list of polluted cities almost every day.
According to Air Quality Index (AQI) air quality in Dhaka was 370 at 8:43 am on Saturday (February 11). This level is called 'risky'.
Apart from this, India's Delhi is at the second position in the list with a score of 233. Mumbai is another Indian city with a score of 220. China's capital Beijing is fourth with a score of 198 and Skopje in North Macedonia is fifth with a score of 184.
According to the data, an AQI score between 101 and 200 is considered 'unhealthy', between 201 and 300 'very unhealthy' and a score between 301 and 400 is considered 'risky'.
Experts blame brick kilns, vehicle fumes and dust from construction sites for air pollution in Dhaka. Air pollution increases the risk of shortness of breath, cough, lower respiratory tract infections and depression.
