Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has gained recognition as a role model for development around the world.
He said this in a keynote address at an event organized by the South Asia Center of the famous American think tank 'Atlantic Council' at George Washington University.Bangladesh Embassy in Washington informed this information on Thursday (April 13).

The foreign minister also discussed economic partnership and prospects with the US, economic diplomacy, regional development and relations with major powers. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has gained recognition as a role model for development around the world.
In this context, he highlighted the extraordinary success stories of the country in various fields including excellent socio-economic progress. Later, he was the senior director of the Council's South Asia Center, Professor Dr. Irrfan took part in a lively question and answer session moderated by Nooruddin.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Abdul Momen attended a meeting organized by the International Republican Institute (IRI) in Washington DC as the chief guest.
Participating in the meeting, he spoke about the political scenario of Bangladesh, its electoral process and preparations for a free, fair and participatory general election. IRI officials expressed their interest in observing the general elections in Bangladesh which was warmly welcomed by the Foreign Minister. Institute President Daniel Twining moderated the meeting. Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States Mohammad Imran, Director General (North America) Khandaker Masudul Alam of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials of the US State Department and the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington were present on these two occasions.
Before this, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Momen visited the Washington University of Science and Technology (WUST) founded by a Bangladeshi entrepreneur in Virginia and spoke as the chief guest at a seminar organized by the university authorities.
The Minister of State wished all concerned for the establishment of such a higher educational institution in the United States and its overall success.
University President Hasan Karaburk and Chancellor and Founder Engineer Abubakar Hanip spoke on the occasion.
