Attempt to suffocate old mother, son arrested

Arifuzzaman was sent to jail by the court on Friday (April 14). Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Alfadanga police station. Abu Taher confirmed this.

The mother Mouluda Mubarak (68) who was injured by her son is currently undergoing treatment at Alfadanga Upazila Health Complex. She is the wife of deceased Mubarak Hossain Master of Bilmandala area of Buraich Union of Upazila. Mauluda filed a written complaint at the police station on Thursday night accusing his son of beating him.

According to the written complaint, after the death of the old woman Mouluda Mubarak's husband, she became the owner of the property left by her husband along with their three daughters and four sons. But his elder son Arifuzzaman often tortured him to take the property left by his father instead of giving it to other brothers and sisters. Arifuzzaman was preparing to cultivate their land last Thursday morning. When his mother objected to this, the boy threw his mother on the road, slapped her, slapped her and tried to strangle her. Later the locals rescued the old lady and admitted her to the upazila health complex.

Mouluda Mubarak, an elderly mother under treatment in the hospital, said that her elder son Arifuzzaman had beaten her and her other son several times in the past over a land dispute. He often persecutes them for trivial reasons.

OC Abu Taher said, after receiving the complaint of the victimized old mother, Alfadanga Police Deputy Inspector Md. Arrested Farhad Arifuzzaman. Later on Friday, the accused was remanded to jail by the court under Section 151 (preventive) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
