Finch last played in Australia's jersey in the last Twenty20 World Cup. He played 103 matches in this format of 20 overs. Out of which he led the team in 76 matches. He made his debut against England in 2011. Retires as the highest run scorer in the country's history. This right-handed batsman scored 3 thousand 120 runs at an average of 34.28. He played a great innings of 172 runs against Zimbabwe in 2018. Which is the highest individual innings record in T20 International.
Under Finch, Australia won the 2021 World Cup. But could not retain that title at home the next year. With Finch out, Australia will have to find a new captain for the T20s. He was succeeded by Pat Cummins after he retired from ODIs last September. His Test journey stopped in 2018 before the ODI.
