Metrorail wire lanterns, revenue reduced by 3 lakh rupees in a day
Many lanterns flown to celebrate the New Year fell on the electric wires of the Metrorail. To prevent the accident, the metro rail movement was stopped for two hours on Sunday (January 1). As a result, many people have come back from far away. Some think - Metrorail is probably closed for some reason. Even after starting the Metrorail from 10 am, there were not many passengers. In this, the metro rail coaches moved in a kind of empty situation. As a result, from the third day to the 4th day, the metro rail fare has decreased by 3 lakh 15 thousand 370 taka.
This information is known from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) on Monday (January 2).
According to related sources, it was noticed that there were no passengers at Metrorail Agargaon station on Sunday. Basically this situation is created due to being off for two hours. Even in front of the ticket vending machine, passengers were not visible. Despite this, long queues were observed at the station gates on other days.
9 lakh 16 thousand 340 taka tickets have been sold in metro rail on the fourth day. On Sunday, Single Journey Ticket (SJT) has been sold for Tk 3 lakh 93 thousand 640, while on this day first ticket of Tk 5 lakh 57 thousand 710 was sold on Saturday. 6 thousand 528 single tickets were sold on Sunday, 9 thousand 289 tickets were sold on Saturday.
On the fourth day, 1,038 MRT pass tickets were sold. 5 lakh 22 thousand 700 taka was earned for each ticket price of 60 taka, the previous day 5 lakh 57 thousand 710 worth of tickets were sold.
In total, tickets worth 12 lakh 31 thousand 710 were sold on Saturday, but only 9 lakh 16 thousand 340 tickets were sold on Sunday due to the lantern flying.
Metrorail is a new era in Dhaka's public transport system. For the first time in the capital, Metrorail has started running with passengers. Residents of the capital, troubled by traffic jams, will see trains running on runways prepared with pillars inside the busy roads. People are going to move from Uttara to Agargaon in just 10 minutes and 10 seconds. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Metrorail on December 28 (Wednesday). Then on December 29 (Thursday) the Metrorail opened to the public.
According to Dhaka Mass Transit Agency Limited (DMTCL) sources, 3 thousand 996 single tickets were sold on the 1st day. The price of each ticket is 60 rupees. 304 MRT passes are sold for metro rail travel. Each MRT pass costs a total of 500 taka. Of this, the security of the card is 200 taka. Remaining balance of Tk 300, which can be used for travelling. And if the card is submitted, the government will refund the security deposit. In all, on the first day, a total of three lakh 93 thousand 520 tickets were sold.
However, on the 2nd day i.e. Friday (December 30), only 1 lakh 39 thousand 980 tickets were sold. However the trip amount on day 1 and day 2 was 50 hrs. That is, the metro rail has traveled from Agargaon to Uttara Uttara station 25 times, i.e. 50 trips. Trip amount is same on 1st and 2nd day but fare has reduced a lot. However, thousands of people have returned home without being able to board the metro rail.
Meanwhile, Day 1 and Day 2 records were surpassed on Day 3. However, the ticket sales fell again on the 4th day.
A senior official of DMTCL said that tickets worth 12 lakh 31 thousand 710 rupees were sold on the third day. However, on the 4th day it decreased to Rs.9 lakh. Lanterns fell on electric wires of Metrorail. Metrorail was closed for two hours to remove them. Due to this effect, the sales of metro rail tickets has decreased mainly on the 4th day.
