Importance of jute not reduced yet: Agriculture Minister
Minister of Agriculture Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak MP visited the head office of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI) on Wednesday and inquired about all the current activities of the institute.
At this time, Phulel welcomed the minister to the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute.
At the end of the introduction session, the scientists of BJRI explained their activities and all the ongoing activities of BJRI were briefed to the Minister.
At the time, the minister said, "Due to the corona epidemic, we have fallen behind in our activities for two years, if the work had been continued, the achievement would have been much more." In total cropping system, jute is a component and a very important component in farming system. Economically, its importance is also very high."
“Bangladesh is known as Sonar Bangla, especially the thing that our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu has promoted and highlighted Bangladesh as Golden Bangladesh, which is centered on golden fiber jute. Considering the economic importance of jute and its importance in our economy, jute has been called the golden fiber and we are proud to say that even today.”
Abdur Razzak said, “With the lack of water, it is no longer the way we think of gold flakes. Once it was given much importance as a cash crop. The importance of jute has not diminished yet. Recently, the private sector has been moving towards jute due to its multi-purpose use, thus increasing its importance. Hon'ble Prime Minister is very interested in this matter."
The Minister praised the current activities of BJRI and said that the scientists of BJRI are doing good work and have developed various varieties. The facilities, working environment and logistical support provided to scientists in neighboring India are not provided in our country. Even agriculture is not given importance.
"Our future challenge is to raise the standard of living of the people. People need many more versatile foods to increase their quality of life, to increase their intelligence, and to increase their creativity. The western world is still ahead in terms of discovery. You will also invent technology. Jute Natural Resources Our climate, our climatic conditions are so suitable for jute production, but we cannot use it. Textile division needs to be developed more. Results need to be enhanced.”
He also said, "Jute research scientists, if you can't transform your research into technology, if you can't make it commercial, that research has no value. That is your challenge. That challenge has to be worked with. The whole nation is looking forward to jute research scientists to bring back the golden heritage of jute.”
“Private owners of various jute mills are moving to different countries, increasing the multipurpose use of jute. If we can spread the interest of jute in the outside world, the spread of jute will increase a lot.”
During the minister's speech, the director of the technical department, Eng. Md. Moslem Uddin, the director of the jute textile department was also present. Dr. Ferdous Ara Dilruba, Director of Agriculture Wing. Nargis Akhter, Director of Administration and Finance Department Dr. Officers of all levels including CSO, PSO, SSO, SO of various departments including SM Mahbub Ali.
