Bail denied, Prothom Alo journalist Shams in jail
The court denied bail to Prothom Alo's own reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams, who is working in Savar, in a Digital Security Act case filed at the capital's Ramna police station and sent him to jail.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain gave the order on Thursday (March 30).
On this day, Shamsuzzaman was arrested and brought to court. He was brought to the court around 10 am. At that time he was kept in the CMM court cell.
At that time, Inspector Abu Anshar of Ramna Police Station requested to be detained in jail until the investigation is over. On the other hand, lawyer Prashant Kumar Karmkar applied for bail for the accused. After the hearing, the judge denied the bail and gave this order.
Earlier, Shamsuzzaman was picked up by the CID around 4 am on Wednesday morning. After a day-long drama on Wednesday, he was produced in court on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday morning, a person named Golam Kibria filed a case under the Digital Security Act at Tejgaon police station. Shams' name was mentioned in the case and many unknown people were accused. They have been charged under Section 25(2)/26(2)/29(1)/31(2)/35(2) of the Digital Security Act, 2018.
Then on Wednesday night, lawyer Abdul Malek alias Moshiur Malek filed another case in Ramna police station on the same complaint. Prothom Alo editor Matiur Rahman, Shamsuzzaman Shams and unidentified cameraman were accused in the case.
According to the statement of the case, on March 26, Dainik Prothom Alo published news with a picture on the Great Independence Day. Prothom Alo newspaper shared the news from the office. The news shows a child standing at the gate of the National Memorial with a flower in his hand. The reporter claims that the child's name is Zakir Hossain.
It is mentioned in the report, the child Zakir Hossain said, what to do with freedom if there is no rice in the stomach. When you go to the market, you sweat. We want fish, meat and freedom of choice.

Later, in the news published on 71 TV channel, it is known that Prothom Alo intentionally presented the news with false identity and interviews. Incorrect information about the child, name and identity have also been given incorrectly.
Later, the child said that the Prothom Alo journalist took this photo by handing the child 10 taka. It has been proved that the reporter of Prothom Alo made such news to create confusion in the public mind about the war of independence and to question the achievements of Bangladesh.
