A hilly target of 500 runs is standing in front. Which way Bangladesh will walk, was the big question.


Even more challenging was not losing wickets for the rest of the day. It was made possible by the opening pair of Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan.
Bangladesh-India face off in the first of the two-match Test series at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. Batting for a target of 513 runs, the hosts scored 42 runs without losing any wicket. After being all out for 404 runs in the 1st innings, he ended the day with 258 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the second innings. In their first innings, Bangladesh were all out for only 150 runs.

Rahul scored 23 runs off 62 balls, breaking the opening pair of 70 runs.

Since then, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara continued to play comfortably. 113 runs came in the pair of them. Yasir Ali Rabbi, Liton Bhritya and Nazmul Hossain Shanto bowled in between. Gill got out after scoring 110 runs in 152 balls with 10 fours and 3 sixes. He scored his first career century. Mehdi Hasan Miraj is said to have been caught by Mahmudul Hasan Joy and returned to the dressing room.

Puja also took the century. This batsman played 130 balls and scored 102 runs unbeaten. Kohli remained unbeaten with 19 runs off 29 balls.

Bangladesh started the day with 133 runs after losing 8 wickets. After losing five wickets for 75 runs, the hosts fell into a batting disaster. Mehdi Hasan Miraj started the day unbeaten on 16 and Upasana Hossain on 13.

These two batters spent twenty minutes in the morning. Ebadat Hossain was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav after scoring 17 runs in 2 fours and 1 six. The batsman got out while flicking the turn. Fifer is full of Yadav.

Then Khaled was fighting well. He lasted 14 balls, though failed to score any runs. But on the other hand, Miraj got out. After scoring 25 runs off 82 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, he was stumped by Akshar Patel.

For India, Mohammad Sira took 3 wickets with 2 maidens in 13 overs
