Acting Chairman of Jatiya Party Roshan Ershad
Jatiya Party's chief sponsor Roshan Ershad will serve as acting chairman until the legal complications are resolved.
The chief sponsor of the party, Roshan Ershad, will serve as the acting chairman of the Jatiya Party until the legal complications are resolved. Kazi Mamunur Rashid, spokesman of the party and opposition leader, said that this decision was taken based on the opinion of the majority of the co-chairmen of the Jatiya Party.
He said that the main patron of the Jatiya Party and the leader of the opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad, Begum Roshan Ershad will serve as the acting chairman of the MP team until the legal complications in the management of the party activities are resolved. On Wednesday night, Co Chairman ABM Ruhul Amin signed the decision letter given in the opinion of the senior co-chairmen. Howladar, Advocate Kazi Feroze Rasheed MP, Syed Abu Hussain Babla MP, Advocate Salma Islam MP and Presidium Member Alhaj Shafiqul Islam Sentu and Nasrin Jahan Ratna MP.

According to Article 16 of the Constitution of the Jatiya Party, the Chairman shall be elected by the Council of the Party. Clause b of sub-section 20 (2) states that the party chairman may nominate the senior co-chairman or one of the co-chairmen as acting chairman if he is unable to serve for a long time. Otherwise one of the presidium members can be the acting chairman.
Mujibul Haque Chunnu told Samakal that it is clearly stated in the constitution that only the GM has the power to nominate the acting chairman. Roshan is Ershad Japa's main sponsor. He has no chance to be acting chairman. Declaring him acting chairman is illegal and unconstitutional. Postponing the announcement of acting chairman is also worthless.
