Customs inspectors and Directorate of Investigation arrested 8 people along with 6 kg 547 gram gold bars from the Maitri Express train from Dhaka to Kolkata. The price of seized gold is about 4.5 million taka. This information is in the press release of customs detectives on Wednesday.

It is known that on the basis of secret information, the instructions of DG of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate and Deputy Director Md. A combing operation was conducted by a patrol team of the Directorate of Customs, Intelligence and Investigation on the Maitri Express train (Train No-3110) from Dhaka to Kolkata at 6:30 am under the leadership of Shakil Khandkar and Ahmadur Reza Chowdhury.
During the raid, 8 Bangladeshi passengers were searched and 55 pieces of gold bars were seized from their rectums. The estimated market price of 6.547 kg gold is four crore fifty lakh taka.
The arrested are Sohail Rana, Billal, Tajbir Ahmed, Nazmul Hasan Nirav, Shahe Alam, Nadeem, Sultan and Suman.
The seized gold bars will be deposited at the Custom House. The notification also said that the process of filing a case under the Special Powers Act against the detained persons is under process.
