The central bank has given the opportunity to import remaining 8 products including daily essential edible oil, chickpeas, pulses, peas, onions, spices, sugar and dates during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Bangladesh Bank's Foreign Currency and Policy Department issued a circular in this regard on Tuesday (December 13). This directive has been given due to the dollar crisis.
This includes - Import facility of edible oil, gram, dal, peas, onion, spices, sugar and dates under 90 days suppliers and buyers credit. This facility will be applicable till March 31, 2023.
Last Sunday, in order to keep the price of all these products in tolerable conditions and to ensure ample supply, instructions were given to keep the cash margin rate at a minimum level based on the banker-customer relationship in the case of establishment of import LC.
According to the concerned, this measure taken by Bangladesh Bank will ensure the supply of useful products on the occasion of the upcoming Ramadan.
