5 migrants died in boat sinking in Turkey
A migrant boat capsized off the Aegean coast of Turkey. Five people died in it. All the dead are immigrants. In addition, Turkey rescued 11 more people alive in this incident. On the other hand, Greece rescued five more migrants related to the same incident.
Five migrants died when a dinghy boat capsized off Turkey's southwest coast on Saturday (March 11), the Turkish coastguard said. Besides, the organization rescued 11 people in this incident.
Greece, on the other hand, said five more migrants were found on a nearby island after the boat capsized.
According to the Turkish Coast Guard, they arrived at the scene after receiving reports that a boat sank in the water on Saturday morning. Later, the Coast Guard rescued 11 people, including a child, and brought them to Didim port to hand them over to health workers.
Meanwhile, the Greek Coast Guard said that Turkey had informed them of the people rescued from a 'half-submerged dinghy' in Turkish waters.
Greece's coast guard also said five people were found alive on the island of Pharmakonisi, about 19 kilometers (12 miles) off the coast of Didim.
