In Comilla, 2 youths were killed in a mob thrashing by locals on suspicion of robbery. Besides, one person is under treatment at Comilla Medical College (KUMEC) Hospital in critical condition.

2 people were killed in the mass beating announced on the mic

The incident took place at Palasuta village of Daru union of Muradnagar upazila of the district on Thursday (January 12) around 12:00 pm.

The deceased are - Nuru Mia (34) son of Abdus Chalam of Kaziyatal village of Muradnagar upazila and Ismail Hossain (32) son of deceased Gias Uddin of Palasuta village. Another person named Shahjahan is undergoing treatment at Kumek Hospital.

Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamruzzaman Talukder confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post on Friday (January 13) morning.

Chairman of Daru Union Parishad Kamal Uddin Khandkar told Dhaka Post that panic spread among the people due to several robberies. On Thursday night, there was a robbery in Keot village of Union, everyone was alerted and miking was done in the mosque of that village. Later, when miking was done in every mosque of the union, the locals started searching the positions with batons. At that time, the 3 suspects were arrested and beaten up by the agitated crowd. Later they were rescued in critical condition and taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital where Nuru Mia and Ismail were declared brought dead. A person named Shahjahan is under treatment in the hospital.

OC Kamruzzaman Talukdar told Dhaka Post that the bodies of those killed in the incident have been kept at the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action in this regard is under process.
