Four crew members have been rescued from a cargo ship that sank off Japan's southwest coast overnight, Japan's coast guard said. They reported this information on Wednesday. However, the search is on to rescue 18 people who are still missing in this incident.
A Coast Guard spokeswoman told AFP, "Four Chinese nationals were rescued at 7:17 a.m. local time, but we are continuing to rescue the remaining 18."
The official, who did not wish to be named, also said that "one plane has already arrived at the scene and two ships are on the way" to assist in the rescue operation.
According to the Coast Guard, the ship called for help at around 11:15 p.m. local time on Tuesday.

It was very difficult to reach where the ship was staying. It is currently located about 110 km west of the remote and uninhabited Danjo Islands in southwestern Japan.
The coastguard said there were 14 Chinese and 8 Myanmar nationals on board.
