The German leader said in an interview with the weekly Bild am Sonntag that a consensus had been reached. Ukraine's Western allies have pledged to arm the country with precision-guided rocket and missile systems, as well as tanks, to help drive Russian troops out of eastern Ukraine.

"Again and again we are forced to resist the collective aggression of the West," he said Thursday on the 80th anniversary of the Soviet victory at the Battle of Stalingrad. But Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected the comparison.
- He also said that Germany will keep a cool head and act sensibly in all future decisions.
Asked if there was an agreement to use Western-supplied weapons only on Ukrainian territory, Shalts said there was an understanding.
