War criminals: 6 people of Mymensingh Trishal were sentenced to death

The International Criminal Tribunal has sentenced the six accused of Mymensingh to death in the case filed on the charge of crimes against humanity in 1971.
The 3-member International Crimes Tribunal headed by Justice Shaheenur Islam gave this order on Monday (January 23).
The defendants in the case are — Md. Mokhlesur Rahman Mukul, Md. Saidul Rahman Ratan, Shamsul Haque Fakir, Nurul Haque Fakir, Md. Sultan Mahmud Fakir and Naqib Hussain Adil Sarkar. All of them are currently absconding.
Investigation of the case started on January 26, 2017 and the investigation report against the accused was submitted to the tribunal on December 31, 2017. The number of accused at the time of framing of charge was 9 persons.
The testimony began on February 18, 2019 and ended on January 5, 2020. A total of 19 people gave statements about criminal incidents (in the police station). The case was adjourned for judgment on 5 December 2022 when arguments were concluded.
