The Awami League leader who beat the teacher was expelled from the party, a case was filed against 12 people

A case has been filed against Thana Awami League leader Roknuzzaman Rokon, assistant teacher Asadul Islam and 12 other unidentified people in the incident of beating head teacher Nurunnabi in Roumari upazila of Kurigram.

The aggrieved teacher filed this case. The case was filed on Saturday afternoon. Earlier on Thursday night, the victim teacher filed a written complaint at Roumari police station.

Accused Roknuzzaman is a resident of Pakhiura village of Charsoulmari union of Rokonra upazila. He is the relief and social welfare secretary of the newly announced partial committee of Roumari Upazila Awami League. Besides, Asadul Islam of Phulkarchar village of the same union has been charged in this case.

On January 19, excellent teacher Nurunnabi and school office assistant Abdur Rashid went to the upazila education office for official work. At the end of the work, several people led by Awami League leader Roknuzzaman Rokon picked up that good teacher from the upazila. First he was detained at the polly transport bus counter next to the upazila premises and threatened with death. After some time, the head teacher was taken on a motorcycle to the office room of Abu Haroira, the head teacher of Roumari CG Zaman High School and General Secretary of Upazila Awami League.

   Roknuzzaman attacked the teacher. He kept slapping and punching his face. Seeing that, the general secretary of Thana Awami League quickly got up from the chair and brought the situation under control. Later, the injured head teacher was rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex. On the day and night of the incident, the victim teacher, Awami League leader Roknuzzaman Rokon, gave a written complaint to the police station mentioning the name of Asadul Islam. The CCTV footage of the beating of the best teacher went viral on social media.

Nurunnabi, the head teacher who suffered, said that the conflict over the post of head teacher has been going on for a long time. The head teacher's post was investigated and I was given responsibility by the authorities. But Rocon has been torturing me by extorting Tk 20-25 lakh from my colleague Asadul Islam. I have filed a case in the upazila. I want a fair trial of this incident.

Shukkur Mahmud, President of the Board of Directors of Phulkarchar Lower Secondary School, said that good teacher Nurunnabi went to the Education Office to form the school committee. He was unfairly picked up and beaten. He demanded that those involved in the incident be quickly arrested and brought under the rule.

Roumari Thana Awami League General Secretary Abu Horaira admitted the truth of the incident and said that it is a disgraceful incident. Organizational action must be taken against Awami League leader Roknuzzaman Rokon for violating party discipline.

Rup Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Roumari Upazila, said that 1 case has been registered in the case of beating up the greatest teacher, mentioning the names of two people including Rokon and 10 to 12 unknown people. Efforts are on to arrest the accused.
