Lionel Messi's dugout coach Jorge Sampaoli lost his job just a month ago. He was sacked by Spanish club Sevilla after five months in charge due to the failure of consecutive defeats in La Liga. However, this Argentinian coach did not have to stay without a job for a month. He has been appointed by the Brazilian club Flamengo.

The traditional Brazilian club said this in a statement on Friday (April 14). Sampaoli, 63, has been appointed until December next year. Flamengo is the current champion of the Copa Libertadores.

Earlier, Sampaoli was sacked on March 21 after Sevilla lost four of seven consecutive matches. Although his contract runs until June 2024, his stay at the Spanish club lasted just five months. Sampaoli was in charge of Sevilla in his first term in the 2016-17 season. The team, who finished fourth in La Liga, were eliminated from the last sixteen in the Champions League. He was in charge of the Argentina national team in the next season, and Messi played in the 2018 World Cup with his hand.

Playing as a defensive midfielder during his career, Sampaoli never played at the top level. After that, he has built a career of almost 32 years in coaching till now. Among them, the responsibility of the Argentina national team is significant in his career.

Flamengo sacked Portuguese coach Vito Pereira a few days ago. He is replaced by Sampaoli. However, this is not his first experience at the Brazilian club. Before this, he handled the responsibility of two other famous clubs of Brazil, Santos and Atlético Mineiro.
