Officially, it will take 6 lakh 83 thousand 18 taka to go to Hajj this year. And just five years ago in 2018, it cost 3 lakh 97 thousand 929 taka to go to Hajj. This means that the Hajj cost has almost doubled in five years.

According to the government package announced on Wednesday, every pilgrim will spend Rs 6 lakh 83 thousand 18 on Hajj. Compared to last year, the cost has increased by 1 lakh 61 thousand 868 taka. And within five years, the cost of Hajj has doubled.

  • Last year, five lakh 86 thousand 340 rupees were spent on package-1 and five lakh 21 thousand 150 rupees on package-2 to go to Hajj officially. Five lakh 22 thousand 744 rupees were spent on performing Haj through private agencies' 'common package'. The private Hajj package will be announced on Thursday (February 2). In the case of last year's package-1, this time the cost has increased by 96 thousand 678 taka, in the case of package-2 this time the cost has increased by 1 lakh 61 thousand 868 taka.

The Holy Hajj will be held on June 27 subject to sighting of the moon. Bangladesh signed a bilateral Hajj agreement with Saudi Arabia on January 9 to perform Hajj this year. According to the Haj agreement, 1 lakh 27 thousand 198 pilgrims will be able to go for Haj from Bangladesh this year as before. Out of this, 15 thousand under government management, 112 thousand 198 pilgrims under private management will be able to perform Hajj. The ban on people over 65 years of age from performing Hajj has also been lifted.
