According to Buss, this morning, the Prime Minister unveiled the inaugural plaque of the construction work of MRT Line-1 of Metrorail in Purbachal No. 4 sector of Rupganj of Narayanganj district. Later he addressed a rally there.
Awami League
- The Prime Minister said, “The Awami League government is working for the welfare of the people. The people are with us. So no one can do anything by protesting. No one can stop the unstoppable progress of the country."
- Awami League president said to the party leaders and workers, "People are with us. Because, we are working for the welfare of the people. So as long as the people are with us, no one will be able to do anything by agitation and struggle."
- Out of the six metro rail routes being constructed in Dhaka, the construction work of the second one has started today. This MRT Line-1 has two sections. Out of this, there will be 12 stations in the 19.872 km underground section from the airport to Kamalapur. There will be seven stations on the 11.37 km elevated railway from Purbachal to New Bazar.
In all, the cost of construction of 31.242 km line has been estimated at 52 thousand 561 crore 43 lakh taka. Trains are expected to start running on this line by 2026.
The government plans to open a total of six metro rail routes in the capital by 2030. On December 28, MRT Line-6 from Diabari in Uttara to Agargaon was inaugurated. Trains will run from Diabari to Motijheel in December this year and from Diabari to Kamalapur by the end of 2025.

It is because of this democracy that Bangladesh has started its journey on the highway of development and has got the status of a developing country. Inshallah Bangladesh will be a developed and prosperous 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041."
The Prime Minister also urged everyone to be frugal in the use of electricity, fuel and water. "Otherwise there is danger," he said.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader presided over the event. Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastgir Gazi, Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori, Chief Representative of ZAICA in Bangladesh Ichiguchi Tomohide also spoke.
Road Transport and Highways Department Secretary ABM Amin Ullah Noori delivered the welcome speech. MAN Siddique, Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), the implementing organization of the project, presented the project introduction.
A video on MRT Line-1 and a 'theme song' created by A2i on the project were presented at the event.
