Momen will advocate for improving relations if Pakistan publicly apologizes
Pakistan has expressed interest in increasing relations with Bangladesh. In this case, Bangladesh has asked to publicly apologize for the genocide that the country committed in 1971. If Pakistan apologizes, the foreign minister promised to advocate for increasing relations with Bangladesh. AK Abdul Momen.
Momen said these things in response to a question from reporters at the Rashtriya Guest House Padma on Sunday after returning home after his visit to Sri Lanka.
Prior to this, Sri Lanka's 75th Independence Day ceremony was held yesterday (February 4) in the country's capital, Colombo, with Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani. Momen's Pakistan's foreign ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch tweeted about the meeting that afternoon. Later Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Imran Ahmed Siddiqui retweeted it.
On the other hand, in a news report of Radio Pakistan, it is said that in the meeting with Momen, Hina Rabbani expressed her satisfaction as the bilateral commercial relations were dynamic and emphasized on the need to strengthen the economic, commercial and investment ties of the two countries as well as the need to increase tourism and communication between the people of the two countries.
When asked what was discussed in that meeting, Foreign Minister Momen told reporters today that he (Hina Rabbani) wants to increase relations with us. As I said, a great way to improve relations is for you to publicly apologize for the genocide you committed in 1971. If this is the case I will advocate for you to enhance the relationship. I would argue that it is. Otherwise it will be difficult for me.
