Fakhrul-Abbas sought bail in the High Court
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas, a member of the party's standing committee, have applied for interim bail in the Supreme Court after the trial lawyer was denied bail in four rounds in the case filed in Paltan Upazila on charges of planning and inciting attacks on the police.
On Monday (January 02) the relevant branch of the High Court filed a bail application on their behalf.
Zainul Abedin, the best lawyer of the accused, confirmed this information to Jago News and said that an appeal has been filed in the High Court today for the interim bail of Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas. The court has not fixed the date of bail hearing yet. This may be known tomorrow, Tuesday.
On December 21, the trial judge rejected the interim bail application of Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas. But since the certificate copy of that order was not received by the lawyer by the proper authority, these two senior leaders of BNP could not apply for bail in the superior court.
The lawyer of Fakhrul-Abbas applied for bail today after receiving the certificate copy of that order.
