Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived in Dhaka on February 6 on a three-day visit

Queen Mathilde of Belgium, who is visiting Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He met at the Prime Minister's office on Wednesday (February 8) morning.

Queen Mathilde of Belgium arrived in Dhaka on February 6 on a three-day visit. He was welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen.

He came to Bangladesh as an advocate (ambassador) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. Mathilde is the first Queen of Belgium to visit Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina

  • At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister's speech writer. Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told the Queen of Belgium that her government is working tirelessly to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are making every effort to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda, including the goals of the 8th Fifth Annual Plan and the Vision Plan for 2021-2041.'

Earlier, on January 30, a notification from the Prime Minister's Office announced that the Queen of Belgium was declared as a 'person of great importance' under the powers given in Clause A of Section 2 of the 'Special Security Force Act, 2021'. And that way he will be given security. 
Queen Mathilde Marie Christine is due to return to her home country on Wednesday (February 8) after her visit. Mathilde is the first Queen of Belgium to visit Dhaka.
