Grieving his death, Italy's Culture Minister Gennaro Sanjuliano said the fascination he spread will live on forever. Gina Lolbrigida's grandson Francesco Lolbrigida is currently Italy's Minister of Agriculture. "She was one of the brightest stars of Italian cinema and culture," he wrote on Twitter, announcing his grandmother's death.
Famous for films like Beat the Devil, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Crossed Swords, Come September, Gina has been described many times as 'the most beautiful woman in the world'. The actress has worked opposite actors like Humphrey Bogart, Frank Sinatra, Rock Hudson, Errol Flynn.
The BBC wrote, Gina was another Marilyn Monroe of the movie, played by Humphrey Bogart of Casablanca fame, just like another actress Shirley Temple in appearance. In Italian cinema, Gina's name would be mentioned alongside Sophia Loren, although the two's careers were the subject of discussion. In the 1950s and 1960s, Gina and Lorraine became symbols of Italian actress appeal.
