UK flag replaces England on tickets, BCB says 'no mistake'

The three-match ODI series against England starts from Wednesday. Tickets for the first match went on sale on Tuesday.

Mirpur Sher-e Bangla National Cricket Stadium will play the first match of the ODI series on Wednesday. Tickets for this match started selling at the booth of Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday morning.

After the ticket reached the audience, it can be seen that there is a picture of the UK flag next to Bangladesh above the names of the two countries participating in the ticket. These four countries under the UK have different flags and different sports federations. It is a big mistake to use the entire UK flag as the flag of England.

However, BCB refused to see it as a mistake. The chief executive of the board, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, told the media that the matter is under their attention. “(The flag issue) we have seen. It's not really a mistake. If we had used the flag of Ireland or Scotland it would have been wrong. In the case of England, the flag of the United Kingdom may be used. It is common.”

BCB's blunders in ticket matters are not new. Although the Test series against Pakistan in 2021 started at 10 am, the date printed on the ticket was 10 pm.

Earlier in 2018, there was a mistake in the spelling of Bangladesh on the tickets for the series against Sri Lanka.
