The film 'All Quiet on the Western Front' won seven awards as 'Non English Film' in various categories at the 76th BAFTA Awards. The movie won Best Director, Best Picture, Best Non-English Film.
This World War I film set a new record for a non-English language film. The previous record for 'non-English' film was 1988 film 'Cinema Paradiso' which won a total of five BAFTA awards.
Based on German writer Erich Maria Romarck's 'All Quiet on the Western Front', the film was produced by Edward Berger. The film was nominated in 14 categories at this year's Bafter. It was the biggest budget German movie released on Netflix last year. The movie became a worldwide sensation after its release last year.
